Moose Manuals and Tech Support from the DIY Alarm Forum

Did you just move in and find yourself being stared down by a Moose? Has the Big Game animal that has been vigilant of your security for years started acting a little temperamental? Have you have just plain forgotten your codes. If so, we're here to help.

Industrial strength and built for stout, these alarm systems have been around since the 1970's. Older than many who now count them amongst their possessions, this well designed and well built equipment can provide years of additional service if properly cared for.

Moose Products, Inc., the originator of the line, was sold to Aritech in 1987. GE subsequently acquired Aritech and later discontinued production of these systems. As a result, technical support is no longer available from Moose Products, Inc, Aritech or GE. This forum is fortunate to have a number of volunteer members with many years of experience on these great systems that are willing to share their expertise.

If you are in need of help with your system, the first step is to make sure that you have a set of manuals for your particular system. The Moose Alarm Forum makes Moose manuals available to members as free downloads. We have manuals for the Z700, Z800, Z900, Z950, Z1100, Z1100e, Z1200, Z1250, Z2000 and more (check the forum's Downloads for complete listing and downloading instructions).

A word of caution: These systems were not intended to be user serviceable. The manuals were written for experienced alarm professionals and presuppose a certain level of knowledge. Additionally, there are errors (or sections which are easily misconstrued) in some of the manuals. We recommend that you seek the advice of a professional before attempting to program these systems.

After identifying your model (see "How do I find out which make/model home security alarm system I have ?" in the forums Frequently Asked Questions section for help with identifying the system) and downloading the appropriate manuals, be sure to check the age of the system's standby battery. Remember, these systems were designed to operate with a standby battery; continued operation with a failed or failing battery can damage the control. Normal battery life expectancy is three to five years; however, replace sooner if indicated by the system.

You are only a step away from getting advice from professionals and help from the best Moose Tech Support Team on the web. Just start a New Topic and get answers from experts.

This forum is not affiliated with Moose Products, Inc, Aritech, GE or any alarm manufacturer, and does not offer manufacturers technical support. The tech support offered on this forum is provided by volunteer members.
