Garage door opener and M1Gold
«

I want to be able to open a garage door when pressing a button on the keyfob. I have the Craftsman equivalent of the following garage door opener: Liftmaster Elite 3585. The garage door opener is used in conjunction with the LCD remote.
Ok, so I understood that I can use the onboard relay for one garage door opener. However I have two doors and therefore I need to buy another relay. Which one should I buy?
Imho I need SPDT contacts (but please correct me if I am wrong).
a) ELK-M1RB. However the instruction manual mentions 24 VDC wires ... and this is 12 VDC ...
b) ELK-924 --> this seems to be a bit of an overkill because of the DP switch ...
c) ELK-912B--> looks good to me (24 VDC)
d) something else?
The next question is: I understood that I need to connect the wires from the relay to the trigger connection of the garage door opener. But where is that?
a) Namely, do I connect the wires at the terminal outputs of the garage door opener (red + white) where the LCD remote is connected.
b) Do I connect them at the LCD remote
c) do I need to actually tear the garage door opener/ LCD control to pieces and actually find the trigger contact and connect the relay wires there.
Appreciate it,
George

You're going to be using a dry contact relay in parallel with your existing pushbutton, shorting will open the OHD.
Your opener has 2 conductors feeding the button, you'll wire in parallel to those, non polarity sensitive.

Gotcha, I was worried that shorting the two wires might not do the trick and that those wires are some sort of data bus (since the LCD remote incorporates a movement sensor, and somehow that movement sensor triggers the garage door opener to light up).

I would verify with a meter first, as generally data pulses can be "seen" using a VOM on DC volts.
I'd wager that the unit is only pulling power from the opener and all other operations are contained within the pushbutton.

Yep, works as a charm. Used one SPDT relay for each garage door (M1RB), wired directly to the pushbutton (LCD remote in my case) terminals, and it works
