If you're a firefighter, the people that you work with/for have provided
you with your key needs.
If not, take it up with them.
Not questioning your expertise in the alarm business, but a view that the folks on the street in the LE and FD biz get all their supplies handed to them by management isn't necessarily correct.
I work for a department like the OP - if it doesn't fall under the category "needs of the
Chief Department" then it's not likely to become a line on a budget - and thus not very likely to be provided to the troops.
May I suggest the OP contact local alarm companies, provide them with a request on Department letterhead and a copy of your ID / Commission card? Doing it in person in uniform can also help calm the paranoia of potential sale to a ne'er-do-well.
Such little things have eased the purchase of several items that the alarm/lock industries - as well as the cops and firefighter who rely on their products - don't want available to the general public.
Stay safe.
