I had an old thread where Abel1 helped me (thanks again, awesome advice), which led me down a path to setting up a new system.

I purchased a kit of sorts with an NX8V2 panel and a NX-148E LCD keypad, which appears to also be a wireless receiver.

I wired it up to all of the existing hardwired motion sensors in the house, and while they all show power, none of them trigger an event to set off the alarm (nor does the motion light come on when I wave in front of them). There are 4 of them, so it isnt one that is bad, etc. they have the same basic wiring as the one that came with it (+,-,NC,C)

The troubleshooting I did so far:

I changed the default to stay behavior, so it doesnt default to stay if zone 1 isnt triggered during arming. I also activated the hot key exit/stay behavior, but that should be irrelevant.

I verified expected behavior by wiring up the motion sensor that came with the kit (PI-6000 iirc) and it triggers an alarm as expected.

The EOL resisters were on the sensor side of the motion sensors that were already in the house, so I switched them out with the ones that came with the kit to see if the resistance was just different, no change in behavior.

The existing sensor's are pictured below (inside shot then the cover). Sorry for the quality, only had my crappy phone with me, I can get better if needed.

Edit: I guess I should define the questions. First, should these work with my panel? If so, any ideas? if not, will all current wired work? I dont really like the shape of the one that came with it, but it isnt the end of the world. Oh, and while I have someone's attention. Recommendations on a second keypad? I assume buying another one with an RF receiver would be a less than optimal idea.

That is not a motion detector, its an audio discriminator (glass break detector).

Well it seems that it took me longer to read than some one else.

It is not a Motion Detector.  It is a Glass Break and will need a Simulator to test.  OR  you could throw a brick thru your window.  You will have to pay for the repairs.   Grin

As for the keypad.  If the one you have has two antennas on the back it is a NX148E-RF.  Should you want another keypad I would suggest the NX148E keypad (no RF)  It will look the same so the user interface would be the same.

Can you live with the Glass Breaks??  You will have to answer that.  Can you replace at the location with a Motion Detector??  Yes, not a problem.  You may have to extend the wiring a bit to suit.

Thank you both for the quick response. I will have to think on what I want to do from there as far as motion sensor/glass break sensors. I might leave them and get someone out to test them and then supplement them with a couple motion sensors.

As for the keypad, the package said it would have an RF receviver, and the keypad has 2 wire antennas, so I will assume it is the -RF variant, though the documentation doesnt specifically call it out. And I will buy the non-RF version to supplement it.

With the detector question answered, I guess the next question is, the easiest solution would be to leave them and supplement with a couple wireless motion detectors. Would I need any additional tech, or would the receiver in the keypad be sufficient (I am assuming that is the case).

The RF receiver can handle up to 48 wireless devices or zones.  However this number is if you do not use any hardwired zones.

All you need to do is learn them in to the the proper zones.  Set the zone to a type 5 and you would be good to go.

If you can find a model number on the Glass Breaks you might want to look for the install manual.  On glass breaks it is located on the inside of the cover.  The manual will indicate the way it is to be tested.
