I found the following in an older thread on this great forum:

Quote
The 60-746-01 Alpha Touchpad will display Zone Text descriptors, you can program Custom Text so you could display "upstairs balcony".

The 60-983 is a Fixed English keypad and it will not display Zone Text.

And it happens to hover around a few questions I've been researching for weeks regarding the Concord 4 and 60-836 voice module.

Will the verbal announcements be any more customizable with the 60-746-01 (2x16 LCD) keypad when used with the Concord 4 and the 60-836 voice module?  e.g. Would the voice announcement say something like 'Zone 4 door open', or could it say, 'Inside Garage door open'?

And, is the displayed message on the 60-983 (ATP-1000) at all customizable?  e.g. Would the display show something like 'Zone 4 door open', or could it show, 'Inside Garage door open'?

The answers to these questions will help me to decide whether to buy the voice module and to decide which keypad to buy.

Thank you for your time.

Frank

The 60-983 show zone 4 open it will not show any custom words thus the fixed english. The custom alpha keypad has no effect on your voice module. Just a side note you cannot program a concord series panel without a custom alpha keypad.

Thanks BDB,

Since I quoted that message, I have read a little more about the 60-983.  The 60-983 is an alphanumeric touchpad.  So I think that means it isn't a fixed english keypad as was mentioned in the quote.

Given that, perhaps you are indicating that it would actually display whatever text message you program it to display.  And maybe the voice module will announce whatever message you program it to announce.

And I appreciate your advice of suggesting that a Fixed display keypad cannot program the Concord.  My problem is, there seems to be so little detailed information available for the Concord 4, that I'm not sure what questions to ask.

Thanks again.

Yes it does exactly that when you program it it will read out what you have programmed.

Great!!

I didn't want a system that would say & display something like, "Zone 4 door open".  And then have to look up "Zone 4" on a cross-reference chart.  I want it to display & say, "Rear Deck Door Open".  So that it is obvious what the problem is without having to do any other research.

I just read the entire installation manual and user manual for the Concord 4 panel without finding anything about actual messages.  Your few words told the whole story.

Great news!  Thanks BDB!
