Elk m1 xIN extender mount in can

The Elk m1EZ8 kit ships with a can and other trappings.
I also bought the m1XIN input extender to cover the rest of my zones (EZ8 has 8 inputs, I need 13). The instructions are for the M1 category of panels, EZ8 and Gold, and have a neat place to mount the m1XIN inside a can for the m1Gold ... but I cannot see how the m1XIN mounts (with 2 plastic mounting strips to hold it correctly) in the can that comes with the EZ8.
Any thoughts?
It will not be hard to use one of the holes in the top/left of the EZ8 can and then drill a small companion hole below it, to accept the other plastic strip -- yet I am wondering if I am missing something.
Thanks,
mejakun

In order to use the SWG's you need to use Elk's structured wire cans.
It will not fit in the enclosure that comes default for an EZ8.
Due to the size of the EZ8 enclosure and related wiring, I would not recommend installing them in the same can.
I believe they'll fit in a PB-1, but I can't locate a baseplate for one in my "collection" at the moment.

I shifted the M1EZ8 to the right in the default enclosure. (Had to drill two new holes.) This left space for the M1XIN on the left. (Four more new holes and four spacers from Radio Shack.) Plenty of room for the battery, M1EZ8MSI and M1XEP at the bottom.
