I just bought a house that has an original 1980 (I guess) "Moose Z1100 System I" installed.

Eventually I will be switching the whole system out for a new/better model.

Recently I had issue with the whole battery test/power light blinking/24-hour battery test alarm going off/etc issue.

I want to know if there is a way to change the unit some how to turn off the battery test.  So basically it would just run on the A/C power supply only.

A similar post was asked a year or so ago I that I found, so before you ask, why would I want to do that, again, I eventually plan to swap the unit out with a better/newer model.  The only thing we really use the system for currently is the "beep, beep, beep" chime for when a door/window is opened (which is nice), but again that's the only thing we currently use the system for.

Thanks in advance!

The battery test is an important safety feature and it can't be turned off.

Operating the system without a battery or with a failed battery can result in system failure.  Best bet is to replace the battery.

If you do update to a new system, you'll be able to use the battery with the new system (assuming the update occurs within the 3 - 5 year expected life of the new battery).

If you don't have time to do it right the first time ...how are you ever going to find time to do it over?

$10 will fix the battery issue.
