Greetings all,

I am thinking about getting a GE SIMON XT, with GSM options, and all modules wireless.

I have home automation setup in my home (Z-Wave technology), and once in a while I have issues due to the next door neighbor who's using a baby monitor which transmits in the 900Mhz, which is where Z-Wave resides (908Mhz).

Does anyone know what alarm systems use for a frequency ?
Do they all use the same ? Is there one frequency allocated per company ?
Does anyone know about a story where wireless modules can be scrambled by an external item ? (I am not talking like a pro who would want to get into your house, but like a baby monitor, a wireless network , or whatever else)...

Thanks a ton !

Sensors are definately not in the 900 mhz range they are between 300 and 500 mhz. The worst any one could do is have a blanket transmitter at about this frequency that could put out enough power to overwhelm the reciever and cause it not to "hear" the sensor .Not likely  because of the power that would be needed.

319.5 for GE Simon systems. This is mandated by the FCC. All companies are using this frequency. The sensors are learned in the Simon XT locally so you do not have an issue with other products at the same frequency interfering (neighbors key fob disarming etc).

Just keep the wireless devices away from other wireless products (15-20 feet or so).

The Simon XT can support 40 wireless devices (if you are adding a GSM, this will take up a zone, so you will really have 39).

I've got a Simon wireless with 8 sensors (adding one more soon), I have wireless phones, 2 wireless weather stations, WiFi throughout the estate (3 wireless routers), Lorax security cams, SVT security cams, wireless gate intercom, FM modulator retransmitting XM radio to the estate and no problems, everyone gets along fine. In fact, the security system is the most stable of all, the only false alarms I've had in 3 years were caused by spiders getting into the Optex sensors.

To be more specific, 2gig uses 345Mhz for security sensors, any Z-wave devices run at 900Mhz...Z-wave is 900Mhz.
