Hi, I have an old WSS5010 stystem put in by an alarm company about 12 years ago.  It has two 5510's and functions properly except for ONE THING.   We no longer have the codes for it and it has been locked out.   I'd like to just replace the board, but the two alarm companies that have come out say they don't make them anymore and that the 5510s won't work with a new system.  They also say I have to replace my PC5132 as it is no longer compatible with the new DSC boards.

SO....  I found a NIB PC1832PCB and I wanted to find someone who actually knows and has no financial stake in the answer....    Will a PC1832PCB work with the 5510's and a PC5132?  I believe my current board is a PC5010 v06MA.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm going to assume that when you say 5510, you mean 5501 keypads. If that is correct, then yes, both the keypads and the 5132 receiver are compatible with the 1832. The new Power Series was introduced several years ago and the documentation clearly states that it is backwards compatible with the old Power Series. I have encountered perhaps two very minor exceptions, but you should have no problems in re-using the old keypads and receiver. I do have to point out, though, that the new keypads (in my opinion) are a big improvement in appearance and touch.

Wow.  THANK YOU for the FAST reply.

You know, I have no idea really what the model of the keypad is at this point.   Looking around I see similar ones but none that look identical. There is no number on any of our keypads.  This is an old protec1ion 0ne system and while the keypads look very similar, mine are completely square.  They look similar to this, but are square: http://www.sourcesecurity.com/image/32760.html  Mine do not say MAXXSYS on them anywhere or have a line under the LCD screen.

Regardless, if they work with my old PC5010 board, they should work with the new PC1832?  Just want to verify that...

So it sounds like we really got the sales runaround with the two alarm companies....  I wish I knew then what I know now.  THANKS!  This forum is great!

If it has the two arrow keys  < >  then it is indeed a 5500, which is excellent. Without the arrow keys, it's a 5501. In either case, you should be just fine. The 5500 has full alphanumeric display capabilities, which means it can show zone labels ("Front Door", "Kitchen Window", etc.) as well as letting you see recent events through the Event Buffer. The 5501 can't do that, but it still allows full control over the system. And they are both compatible with the new Power Series.

WOW (again)!  I can't say that I have been working really hard at it, but I have been trying to get info on this old system for....a few years.  I have called alarm companies and talked to them.  I have had them call me.  I have even recently had two companies come out to the house.   NONE of them gave me good information.   Each one told me that my old system was no good and that I could not just replace one part.  EVERYTHING had to go.  THEN, I accidently find this forum while searching for info on a TI-100, and within a few hours I have the information I need.  That's fantastic!   Thank you so much for the quick responses, Ken.   I hope that once I get my system operational and integrated with my Home Automation system, I can be of help here if someone else is trying the same thing.

Thanks again!

Is there a way to find out what the installer code is?  It is not in any of the documentation I got with the new board....   Sad

Isn't it supposed to be 81832 for a brand new board?

5555 is the default code. You should see it in program section 006.
