what is the best place to install the sensor on a casement window?

depends on what type of sensor you are using, but it needs to be on the outer edge somewhere.  the closer to the hinge side, the farther it can open before a fault occurs.

Any alarm is only as good as its planning and install.  Spend the time and money to do it right the first time or you will spend twice the money to pay someone else to do it right the second time!
