Hello, I am trying to do a new NX-8E install by taking baby steps (one point at a time).

I have zones 1-8 shunted with 3.3 k resistors.  My LCD keypad is talking to my NX-8E control panel.

Can you guys give me some hints on the following:

  1.  How can I shunt/disable the siren to get rid of my siren trouble message.  I don't want to enable that until everything else is working.

  2.  Is it possible to adjust the volume on the keypad?  My wife is nagging me about it.

  3.  Do I need to load factory defaults, or is my brand new panel already defaulted to that?

  4.  Are there rules of thumb most professionals follow for which partitions are which zone types.  I'm tempted to start with partition 1 as my entry/exit doors.  Is this a bad idea?

Thanks for you help on my last post and this one! Huh?

Ok, seems like you are going down the path.

1)  Just place a 3.3k resistor across the terminals.

2)  You can adjust the pitch of the sound which may or may not make a difference.   Press the * twice and you will see "Set Tone" then use the buttons next to the display to increase or decrease the pitch or tone.

An alternative might be to offer some cotton balls to your wife. Grin

Once it is all set up you will generally only hear the door chime and keystrokes unless something goes into trouble.

3)  The panel comes out of the box in default.  But it is recommended to enter program mode for the motherboard and when it ask for a location press 910# that will default the panel to ensure you have a clean board.

4)  Unless you are going to have separate areas to arm/disarm independently you will only ever use Partition #1.  All your zones will be on Partition #1.  Anything else will just confuse you at this point.  That is unless you enjoy having your wife nagging you about what will happen.   Grin

Good luck.
