NX-695 Water Sensor
«
on:
Jun 20, 10, 11:00am »
Hello,
I have the following set-up:
NX-8E Control panel, NX-548E wireless receiver, NX-1192E LCD Keypad. I am trying to enroll two NX-695 water sensors on the wireless receiver in Zones 30 and 31. I do not know the following:
1) Sensor type: there is no sensor type for water sensor that I can find. I want a 24 hour alarm zone that will alarm to central station and keypad regardless of armed state of panel. I tried to set as zone type 25 (gas) but the sensor randomly went off after about 45 minutes (not sure if that is sensor issue but I suspect it is because that type is looking for some supervision or I have another setting incorrect.
2) What any of the settings in Segment 1 should be (other than 1 which obviously needs to enable the sensor).
Thank you,
Tony

Hello and welcome back.
I assume that you have the sensors already learned into the receiver. My manual indicates that Type 25 is "Chime Only" not "Gas". I would not recommend that as the right Type.
I would choose Type 21 which is "Gas Detection". You should not have to change any thing except the Event Code which is defaulted to 15 which is "Gas Detection". Change it to 17 which is "Water Leakage".
As for the false after 45 minutes I would consider the sensor "NOT" be in place to verify that some sort of dampness is not causing a false trip. In other words; be sure it is dry for maybe 24 hours or so just to make sure you don't have a faulty sensor.
Good Luck!!

Thank you for your reply.
I put as zone type 25 for testing purposes only to see that I get chime when sensors are shorted which it did. I then put it zone type 21 (gas) and sensor faults after 45 minutes or so even though it enrolls fine. I also tried as zone type 23 and it does the same thing. I also (per recommendation on another forum) tried enrolling with the sensor shorted which doesn't work either.
Basically, I can enroll the sensor as almost any zone type, but it faults after 45 minutes to a condition of permanent fault that cannot be cleared except by deleting and re-enrolling sensor. I have tried this with two separate NX-695 units and both act the same, so I don't think sensors are bad.
I think I am missing a fundamental step/setting in water sensor enrollment.

Ok,
Your description of what is going on is much more clear in your last post.
The problem does not have anything to do with your enrolling of the sensor, it has more to do with the Options settings of how the sensor is reporting in.
Try this at the keypad.
* 8 <CODE> <TX ADDRESS ?32?> # <ZONE NUMBER> # 5 * EXIT EXIT
This will change the response from a N/C remote contact to a N/O remote contact. Which is what I think you have with the sensor. You would need to check continuity with a meter to verify.
Try that and see what happens. If all seems stable then make the sensor wet and see if it goes into alarm. If it does you are good to go. If not we will have to go to a Plan B!!
Good Luck

Just to update:
I finally got the NX-695 to work by enabling options 4 and 5. Your advice got me to messing with the options and it wouldn't work with option 5 or 4 only but when enabled together, it works as expected.
Thanks,
Tony

I was going to say that at first, but I never worked with the NX-695 so I wasn't sure. If you would have come back I would have suggested that you set both to see what happens.
Hope you were not to frustrated??

No, we're good. I learn more when things don't work at first anyway...but it's nice when they do:)
Thank you.
