Hello,
I just received a kit in the mail today.

It has Simon XT SUM2 then a REV E lower on the box.

1) Is this the newest one prior to the new 1.3 panel coming out that is now avaiable at select dealers?

2) Is this model capable of doing Z-wave?

3) Is this model allowed to have another keypad installed with it? If so, what is the model number and where can I find it?

4) Someone told me that SAW and Crystal sensors use different frequencies and I have to choose one or the other and there might be different XT Panels for either technology. Is this true, or can this model use SAW and Crystal at the same time operating together?

5) I am new to X-10. Whose manufactured X-10 lighting parts do you recommend for lights and model numbers?

6) Is there any online instructional DIY videos for the Simon XT?

7)Can this model use micro sensors?

Cool Can you tell I am a noob?

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

Too many questions for just opening the box.

All due respect but you might want to read the install manual first.  Get a understanding of what you have and how to control it.  Start your install and work with it slowing so you don't get in over your head.

Then if you need help on a specific issue then come back and ask a question.

Good Luck!!

Maybe someone could help me answer these few questions as the answers are not found in the install manual?

Can both Crystal and SAW sensors be used at the same time? I don't know what to buy without knowing this one.

Is this model compatible with z-wave? I don't want invest in x-10 if z-wave is supported.

Thanks.

Transmits X10 signal only.  Z-Wave may or may not be able to detect or respond.  You need to check the specs on Z-Wave and determine what it can or can't do.

Below is the list of features from GE/UTC website.

Standard Features

40 wireless zones - two can be hardwire (normally-closed loop only)
Supports Crystal and SAW Learn Mode sensors
Supports repeaters
Supports two-way RF products (version specific)
Indoor and outdoor motion sensors
Chime feature for monitoring door, window, or motion activity
1 master access code and 8 programmable user access codes of 3 to 6 digits
SIA or CID central station reporting formats and Voice Event Notification reporting via PSTN (native) and/or GSM, IP (with optional modules)
Programmable No Activity and No Usage report features
Built-in 2-way voice
Meets SIA False Alarm Standards
100-event buffer with time and date stamp
Panel voice and beeps that can be disabled
Program panel with built-in touchpad or Enterprise Downloader software v3.4 or later
Firmware flash upgrades can be done remotely
Expansion options
Internet based interactivity (with a|arm.c0m GSM module & service)
Support for on-premise remote control with optional talking touchpad accessory

Good Luck

Hello

From what we have been told

the 1.3 is the first one that does  z wave
You can get a wireless touch screen for the new xt's
You can use saw & crystal  parts on same system but not all  work on xt's
not sure about x10 stuff
Yes you can use micro sensors

Thanks, Mtn Tech!

Since Z-wave is not in the user manual for the 1.3, I am curious as to what the operation is...do you use the X-10 setup for Z-wave as well, or would there be a Z-wave menu option possibly?

Also, someone told me that SAW and Crystal operate on two different frequencies, and the Simon XT will use only one of them...it sounds like you are saying that I can have a combination of SAW and Crystal sensors on the same system without issue, is that right?

Thanks for your time.
