Make sure your DIY Alarms save lives and not only money

In some states, a certified technician must install the fire alarm. This is because during a fire, the occupants’ lives are typically at greater risk when compared to a burglary. According to the United States Fire Administration, fire departments responded to 388,500 home structure fires in 2003. They estimate that 3,145 people lost their lives in these instances. But although this number is both tragic and unsettling, the number of fatal fires is less than 1% of the total incidents. This low number can directly be attributed to the success of proactive campaigns to place fire alarms in the home as well as the low cost for DIY alarms.

In the 70s, it would cost nearly $1,000 to outfit a three bedroom home with a professional fire alarm system. Today, it may only cost you $50 to place basic alarms in the home. But of course, this forum is not really geared toward independent sensor alarms. It is much more desirable to have detectors that connect to a control box which is remotely monitored so that the fire department can be notified immediately after a sensor is tripped. This has the added benefit of protecting your property when you are not at home. If you are placing a Do It Yourself alarm system to detect wrongful entry, you should seriously consider a system that includes fire detection as well.

We hope you are more prepared to set up your DIY alarms for fire warning now

Fire Protection On Your Do It Yourself Alarm Is Just As Important If Not More Important Than Intruder Protection

This section is a little different than the rest of the forum. If you are looking for information about how to complete a Do It Yourself alarm that can detect fires, then this is your section. Most burglar alarm systems are basically the same and use the same components. But fire alarms can vary tremendously, especially between commercial and residential systems, and are typically governed by strict laws. So, if you are thinking about saving money with DIY alarms, you should first check your state’s ordinances to see if your are even allowed to install the system.
